I'm in favor of removing it. While one could argue that we do allow non-electrical questions (signal/control theory, embedded programming, HDL, history...), all of those subjects are on-topic because of their relation to electricity and electrical engineering. Also, there are far more electrical questions than any other kind. Looking at the front page right ...

I agree with you, but as I'm currently the only "active" mod (not active, really), I'll leave it open to collect some votes at least. And I hope that fresh new mod(s) will be willing to work on these issues, too.

I agree, the connectors tag should be merged with connector. If there are no objections, I will do this in a few days

These tags look like a candidate for intrinsic tags. Intrinsic tags are term[s] that can apply to all questions on the site [...] Hopefully, this meta post can also function as a formal request to the Community Manager to blacklist them, as it is also stated, post a request on your meta and we'll mark it as intrinsic. (a moderator may need to edit ...

Currently (as of 2021-01-03) there are 174 questions tagged small-electronics, and based on the upvotes, number of answers, and general quality of the questions and answers, it seems there is some good content there -- but even with 4 tag watchers, there really isn't any clear meaning to what makes these questions "small electronics". In many cases,...

I can confirm this in Chrome too. For SE devs, this CSS rule appears to be the root of the problem: .user-show-new .user-header .data { width: 318px!important; } Disabling that rule makes it work fine:

We will be getting hats again. Thanks for your input.

Here's what I'll propose: Retag all questions tagged shield that refer to EMC shielding to shielding Get rid of any non Arduino shield questions tagged shield Merge shield into arduino-shield and make shield a synonym mapping to arduino-shield. Change the arduino-shield [wiki]1 to include a reference to shielding I'm suggesting that we make shield map to ...

Here are my proposed actions for this tag: Start working on retagging all single-use instances of circuit using the SEDE query from Passerby right now. (Everyone can do this). Delete the tag administratively, and blacklist it. Finish retagging any question in untagged Regarding "circuit-design" This tag, as mentioned, was originally deleted way back in ...

Sorry about that. We accidentally included a wrong file in another file.

This sounds reasonable to me, though I'll admit I don't have a ton of experience in the specific terminology to have a strong opinion either way. The proposed action would be: The creation of the tag power-engineering Merge power-distribuion into power-engineering and make it a synonym Merge power-transmission into power-engineering and make it a synonym ...

I was. I also blacklisted the tag. Please look over untagged questions to provide correct tags or vote to delete.

Merging USB with USB-device: "USB" tagged questions are ideally to do with the protocol and its implementation in one's code, not with a USB device. On the other hand, "USB-device" questions may not care a whit about the protocol and firmware, and be all about device hardware, voltages, using USB as a power source for a device, and so on. Not a good ...

The code was assuming that comments were showing on the question page only. I have amended the link to actually go to that page if not already on it. Will be with you the next build (rev 2013.9.20.1027).

I'm following the stm32 tag and the stm32f0 and the stm32f4 and I should probably follow the other STM32 tags as well. Sure there are some peripherals in the STM32F7 I haven't used, but a lot of the questions concern basic things which I can answer as well. So for me, the separated tags just make it harder to identify all the questions of interest to me, ...

I don't know if it's changed or I just have some issue, but I NEVER see anything but the meta group for a migration option, and the meta group is usually not a good option when I think of migrating. I would suggest a migrate options list that is sensitive to the reputation of the person suggesting the migration ON THE SITE THEY SUGGEST MIGRATING TO. I have ...

I propose a synonym of microsd into sd, and approving sd-card as a synonym of sd. Please up/down vote to indicate preference.

I've looked at this on and off over the past week. Now, I count approximately 10 questions with the single [electrical] tag, and some of these questions are very poor - they should be easy to deal with. I think the tag is safe to remove. The untagged remainder can be cleaned up pretty quickly.

4

You're correct that "electronics" is redundant, and should be avoided. Removing the tags (via a mod script, if these exist, 75 is too many to do by hand) would leave them untagged, but the untaggeds are a category which can be brought to attention, while a "properly" tagged question will get overlooked. I'm not sure there's some incentive for working on ...

Grounding and Earthing are probably used interchangeably on this site and I agree they could be merged, possibly after looking at some statistics which I don't know how to do. I think there's a big difference between questions about ground and questions about grounding. They are not synonyms, and if they are used as such, the questions should be re-tagged ...

There was a bug in the job that synced these counts routinely, specifically it wouldn't fix the "now 0" case, a join vs. a left join going on. This will be fixed in the next build.

This should now be resolved and the fix is live across all sites. Sorry for the inconvenience; I broke it when modifying how the Markdown editor worked for Stack Snippets.

fuse is now a synonym of fuses amps is now a synonym of amperage dc-dc has been merged into dc-dc-converter and is now a synonym as well ptc is now a synonym of polyfuse. The one Q using it for a RTD was retagged. one-wire is now a synonym or 1-wire The rest I believe are not as clear-cut for me to pick a primary tag, or may have disagreements on ...

I find there are a lot of questions for Arduino recently that get migrated to the arduino SE. I think Arduino would be the most important option to add to that list at the current time. It seems that about every third question over the past few days has been an Arduino one...

In response to this Meta Stack Overflow request we have implemented a change that will sort of allow low rep users to post images. If a user with <= 15 rep tries to post a screenshot, they are presented with a message in the image uploader: If they are on a site where image embedding is blocked for new users, we also implemented a change that if a ...

This is an issue that only presents in IE 8 on Windows XP and has to do with how the JavaScript engine iterates (or rather doesn't) in specific cases. Fixed in the next build (rev 2013.9.23.1029).

I normally use FireFox but maintain a number of virtual machines running XP with all the latest service packs / Internet Explorer etc installed. Using Internet Explorer build 8.0.6001.18702 I also received the framing error although didn't get the message about navigating away: There is a Meta.SO post about it but that mentions a 2MB file limit, the file I ...
