The `Texas` Tag

Actually, there are several manufacturer tags, including atmel, nxp and microchip. So I went ahead and created texas-instruments and merged texas into it, since "Texas" by itself doesn't make sense ...

The `Texas` Tag

Generally, I would say that all manufacturer tags should be avoided. Because all those companies tend to merge and split like crazy. Tags should be about the product family, not the manufacturer. ...

I'm not electrified by the existence of the blanket [electrical] and [electricity] tags, let's remove them, or at least blacklist them

These tags look like a candidate for intrinsic tags. Intrinsic tags are term[s] that can apply to all questions on the site [...] Hopefully, this meta post can also function as a formal request ...

I'm not electrified by the existence of the blanket [electrical] and [electricity] tags, let's remove them, or at least blacklist them

I agree with you, but as I'm currently the only "active" mod (not active, really), I'll leave it open to collect some votes at least. And I hope that fresh new mod(s) will be willing to work on these ...

Let's not over-engineer questions: blacklist [engineering]

Yes, this is another intrinsic tag which needs to be blocklisted. As with "electric", at least some of the time it is only used when a user is trying to tag the question as "electrical ...

Would a Moderator delete the misspelled [verliog] tag?

Thanks for spotting this. As you said, it's clearly just a misspelling and not something that we need to consider with a full discussion, waiting for voting etc. I've replaced it with the correctly-...

Time to burninate [small-electronics]?

There isn't a need for this tag and I don't see a need for the tag, it doesn't follow the recommendation on tags because it's to 'meta'. If nobody else has a problem with removal, remove the tags ...

I'm not electrified by the existence of the blanket [electrical] and [electricity] tags, let's remove them, or at least blacklist them

In general, all adjective-only tags are bad: they change the meaning depending on which noun they are applied to. "Electrical" is obviously meaningless without a noun, or at best equivalent to "...

implicit tag: can we cut out the [electric]ity?

I agree. What is doubly bad about this one is that it tends to be mistakenly added when someone is trying to use a tag that has multiple words -- a space between words is interpreted by the system as ...

block the [channel] tag

If I could get help cleaning up the channel tag I would appreciate it, once the tag is removed I'll have a CM look at it. Edit: The tag has been cleaned: Could we get a CM to blacklist this tag?
