Nov 13, 2014 at 2:10 comment added m3dl I think in the FAQ or in the site intro should talk about it, since most people (like me) were never sure if we could post power engineering questions here =(
Mar 16, 2014 at 23:03 comment added Taraz Here in Canada, "Power engineering" isn't really closely related to electrical engineering. It's a trade (not a degree-type profession), and they deal primarily with the operation of steam plants and power generation using steam (coal plants, etc.). They are generally not electricians, electrical engineers, or electronics experts. There are also "power stream" electrical engineers, which aren't necessarily "power engineers".
Mar 16, 2014 at 17:12 comment added Kortuk Mod @OlinLathrop We dont have many of the questions, so people dont find it with searches when they are looking for help with that, I would still like the name to be Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Mar 16, 2014 at 13:56 comment added Olin Lathrop @Kortuk: That is a weak argument in that we get very few electric power engineering questions. I agree they are on topic, I'd like to see more, and the few we have gotten have generally been well received. If many around the world were confused thinking this site is only about electric power engineering, then we should be getting a lot more of such questions.
Mar 14, 2014 at 21:31 comment added Kortuk Mod @user228546 electrical engineering just means "power engineering" outside the US.
Mar 14, 2014 at 20:11 comment added Taraz A request for clarification. If we're supposed to cover all topics (not just electronics), then the "electrical engineering" name makes sense. Otherwise it doesn't.
